A Visitor asked the following question on 11/21/2005
My questions is simple, I have both a male and a female that are 9 months old, I have been trying to get them both housebroken. My trouble is that they will go out do thier business, then come inside and within 15-20 minutes the male will either poop or pee inside. Any tips are welcome, I do crate the dogs when I am not there to supervise.

Your male is playing a dominace game with you. He is trying to tell you that he owns you, you don't own him. Since you know that he is going to do this 15 - 20 min. after going out. I suggest that after they have both gone out, watch him closely, and as soon as you see him sniffing around for that spot to do his repeat business in the house, leash him. Take him alone outside and do NOT bring him back in until he has done his second business. Males like to mark their territory and dominate what he views as his pack. A pack to a dog is his family and he considers you part of his family, but he is determined at this point to show you who is boss. So you must show him who is boss and the best way is to leash him and take him out. Should he refuse to go to the bathroom when he is leashed, take him back inside and crate him for 20-30 min., then leash him again and take him back out until he does what you want him to do. Hope this helps. If you need any further assistance feel free to email
