11/29/04 Many poms have dental problems. You were very unspecific as to what your pet may be suffering so I am unable to give any specific advice. However if your 6 yr old is loosing teeth something is wrong. It is NOT common for a dog of that age to loose teeth. Try brushing your dogs teeth, that can help. You may want to rub a toothbrush soaked in a 1/2 n 1/2 water/hydrogen pyroxide mixture on his gums as well. As far as the old toy, can it be washed? If your dog has a gum infection, he may need antibiotics to cure it. A nasty infection could cause him to get sick or it could be fatal if left for to long untreated. I hope this helped a little. 9/16/05 If your 6 year old Pom has never had a dental clean it will lose all his teeth and get very ill.See if you can't take him in for a cleaning. At that age ,no teeth come back. The old toy will not hurt your dog.Good luck. Naida
