A Visitor asked the following question on 9/9/2004
My long haired chihuahua is 2. Her hind legs and behind go numb. She lays for about a half an hour without moving. Then after that time she gets up like nothing happened. This has happened 3 times over her two years. What could this be??

12/1/04 My advice would be of course to take her to your vet. Spinal issues can be very serious. I would also advise putting ramps or cushion up to the furniture and not allowing her to jump down off of anything that is more than a few inches high. This could be compressing the spinal cord by stressing the spine. Please take her to your vet right away! Kelley
