There are a lot of good ones, just a few include why they breed (hopefully not for money), how long/what experience they have, the health of their dogs and health testing done, how old and how often bred their dogs are, and for references. These are just a few, there are many many others also.

I cannot stress how important it is to visit the breeder's house.
You may find out they are indeed an internet puppymiller and not what they advertise.
A good breeder will give you all the info you need and you shouldn't even have to ask because they will guide you for the life of the puppy.
