1/28/07 I guess I don't understand what you are asking about what kind of working dog a collie is. A collie is a herding breed. It's original purpose was as an all around farm dog. Collies today are very successful in all areas of performance events. They perform in Obedience, Agility, Herding, Tracking, Carting, S&R, as guidedogs for the blind, Service dogs for other handicaps, drug search and USDA customs dogs, Therapy dogs and probably a lot of other jobs as required. A collie's limits as a working dog are really only limited by the dedication and time it's owner has to train them to do these things. Marla
