I will be truthfull to you.. The way the genetics work with color and the merle gene..IF she is blind ONLY because of the Merle/Merle defect if bred to a solid dog she would not automatically produce blind puppies, puppies from a double merle to solid would not be double merles..So they would not have the abnormalities associated with the MM status. but on the flip side, because of the amount of white your girl carries you could get a lot of deaf puppies.. Are you prepared to Cull(kill) puppies at birth that have too much white that may be deaf? Have the litter BEAR (Very expensive)tested to determine if they are deaf or partially deaf then decide to cull the deaf puppies or Or try to find homes suitable for a deaf dog..They are few and far between,, and there are a ton on dogs in rescue that are on deaths door already looking for homes..
Even if she does not produce Eye defects related to the MM status or even exsessive white puppies does that mean she is breedable or should be bred

Absolutly NOT..
Reson one.. Because of her eyes being abnormal in function and stucture she cannot have her eyes certified, and there are several other eye issues of serious concern.. that she could also have (and truthfully might) that you cannot screen for or even see if she has becaus her eyes are abnormal, Cateracts, CEA PRA retnal problems..most cause partial or full blindness..Simple terms, you breed her,Thinking her only eye issue is because she is a MM dog.. hopefully when you have the litter eyes screened before sale you know if problems are there, but most often you have family having to deal with their beloved dog suddenly going blind at a older age children upset.. you resposible for producing dogs of poor quality and healh because you could not did not check the status of mom.. Is it worth it?
Reaons Number Two and this is the big one.
I will be brutally frank with you.. good breeders VERY rarely breed Merles to Merles.. Because as much as 1/4 of the litter will

I will be brutally frank with you.. good breeders VERY rarely breed Merles to Merles.. Because as much as 1/4 of the litter will be deaf and or blind.. The biggest reason for a MM litter is so the breeder can produce more "Merle" puppies for the market because lets face it.. so many people want that dog just like the one on Crufts.. Every one wants the Merle puppy with the blue eyes.. Sigh.. such a shame really when health and avoiding problems should be the first priority..
Once in a great while a responsible breeder will choose to do a MM litter..Vary rarely do you ever see these MM puppies avalible for adoption or placement.. let alone for sale and if a breeder chooses to place such a dog they would never do so unless that dog was spayed or neutered..Because MM dogs are just not breeding quality because of the high likely hood of problems in that particular dogs and any offsping mentioned above..

All around because you have a MM dog and did not have to have her spayed by a contract.. I seriously question her breeders ethics.. you are very lucky she is as healthy as she is (despite) the blindness.. the odds are really high she is a carrier for multiple genetic problems, Cateracts, CEA, Epilepsy, cancer and Hip and elbow dysplasia.... that will come to roost on your doorstep if you choose to breed her..Any breeder who did not know a MM breeding would produce problems, or did not care.. then did not care if the dog was bred and could potentially produce more deaf puppies or pupies with other problems.. Is Very unlikely trying to avoid or cares what the end health of the dogs they produce, or what thoes puppies may produce themselves is.. Heck Blind MM puppies is the simplest healh problems to avoid in a breeding program.. just dont breed MM..So did they screen for other probelms? any of the other dogs on the pedigree screened? Is she even registered? You are lucky she is health

You are lucky she is healthy overall, but she is a potential time bomb in the gentics department..
thank you for being kind enough to provide a loving home to a special needs dog,,and also taking time to ask questions and trying to learn. I hope I have not offended you but I personally love this beed and it breaks my heart If puppies are being produced without propper health clearances,, and then someone nice like you ends up taking the responsible actions that the breeder should have taken themselves.
I wish I could give you better news..Have her spayed and please don't breed her.. she is just not breeding quality..
If you are really intrested in breeding,, find a reputable breeder and get a quality dog.. it is hard to avoid genetic problems as it is when you start with Quality dogs, Look for a nice dog from good lines with multiple generations (parents, grandparents great grandparents) of PROVEN Health screening and good health..Get involved with the breed, get a breeder

Look for a nice dog from good lines with multiple generations (parents, grandparents great grandparents) of PROVEN Health screening and good health..Get involved with the breed, get a breeder to help you.. have your health clearances done Hips, Eyes, thyroid elbows CEA/PRA testing etc.. and then find a suitable male to match this girl then breed a quality healthy litter..
