We have a 9 month old Scottie bitch that has just started menstruating. Does this normally start this early and how long can we expect this to last?

9 months is not early- it is right on time. Should continue for about 3 weeks.

I think Scotties have their first Heat Cycle later then other dogs. Our Scots start around 9-12 months old.Hope this helps.
