I live in Texas and a website said that pugs are sensitive to heat, is it still ok for me to get a pug puppy?

Yes, definately. Just keep your pug indoors and make sure adequate water is provided. Pugs aren't outdoor animals specifically for this reason. They overheat very easily. They also can become hypothermic very easily. So indoors is best for these little guys.
