I would like to know if our 1 year old papillon would cope outside during the day when we go to work, its currently winter, so dont wont to harm him if he wont handle the temperature, frosts first thing then about 10-15deg. He stays inside at the mo but holds on all day, want to give him the freedom,

7/7/08 he should be fine with adequate warm shelter (an insulated dog house with blankets and a door to keep the cold out) in temps down to 32 degrees during the day. If your temps get much lower in the daytime, it's not a good idea. It's winter in July? You must be overseas. Tracey

6/22/10 Papillons, although resilient, are not adaptable to long term exposure to any extreme temperatures. Your papillon could easily freeze to death or significantly lower body temperature and increase the risk of illness. They also cannot tolerate extreme heat. Crate if you have to, and allow exercise time when you are home and can monitor the well-being of your pet. Tammy
