I am purchasing a cane corso, I have first pick of the liter. The breeder has said that a blue cane corso, because of its dominent traits are not a good pick. Is this true and what should I look for. We were thinking of starting with a male. Any suggestions ???

1/28/05 There is an easy temperament assesment you can do when picking out your pup. By doing these simple tests, you can determine if he would be dominant. But I believe the breeder was speaking of the recessive gene that the blues carry. They can have skin problems, mange at a young age, allergies and a dull coat. We have two blue brindle Cane's one a male import and the other a female from our litter last year. We give all our dogs supplements in their daily feedings. We do not have any of the skin problems or allergies that some see. Also both have great coats, very soft and shine nicely! Are you purchasing this pup as a pet or breed/show quality?? Hilary

Your breeder is full of it, and is likely trying to encourage you away from the blue pups so he can sell them to someone else for more money. COAT COLOR HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH TEMPERAMENT OR DOMINANCE. Richard & Laura
