What are some preliminary tests to see if he/she is agressive, timid, or just right?

You can start by carefully reviewing the breed standard. If possible meet both parents. This breed should be confident in itself. Aloofness is tolerated but any adult that is not approachable should not be considered as a parent for your future puppy. Best of luck.
