i had my rott/pit mix spayed in febuary and since then she has had problems healing this is my 3rd time taking her back and now she has some sort of metal poking through her...what should i do?

Could be that a suture was left in her. And initally she could have had a reaction to the type of suture that was used. Grill your vet on what is happening and what he/she recommends, then go for a second opinion at an unrelated office. It never hurts to get another opinion.

Once a tissue is sutured...they are not removed. I am thinking he used staples, and that is the 'metal' that you are seeing.

Was she given any antibiotics? What does the site look like? Red? Infected? Oozing?

Ask what type of sutures they used. I am a veterinary technician student, and could better help you with more info.

A second opinion is definitely a great ides!

Some suture is absolutely removed -- and some suture is metal. There are absorbable and non-absorbable types. Yes staples are metal too.

..I know that. I meant the sutures on the 'inside', not the finishing sutures.
