I am having trouble breeding 2 Yorkies. The male has breed several times before with no Problem but he just can't seem to get the job done easy. The 2 have breed twice but I like to breed mulituple times if possible. I own the Stud and my friend owns the female. This is the females first heat cycle - she is 12 months old and she is still bleeding a medium red color. She is a little on the tall side so that may be why it is hard for him to get to the right place. Other than that could it be that she is not totally in heat? They have already bred though. I have bred Yorkies for 6 years and this is the Hardest it has ever been to breed a female. Please let me know what you think.

1/12/08 Yes it is too early. They are supposed to be running clear after the red has gone when it is the best time to breed. You could be reading up on Yorkies and get more info on breeding. Your male just bred because he knew it was what he's supposed to do, not that she was ready. Lisa
