My 5 month old female yorkie had shots and 1 week later still has a sizeable knot on her left hip. The vet said to use warm compresses and massage it. I have and it's still there. Is this normal?

The recommended place to give a shot is the shoulder, so that hip placement may be a contributor to the large knot, but Yes, they do get knots sometimes. It will take a few days and then be absorbed by their body.
