9/29/07 Ive found after 34 years raising Yorkies that most Yorkies are excellent mothers and do their own birthing. They will chew and pull the sack out and clean it off the pup and chew the cord. If the cord (& sack) is left on there do NOT cut it. Instead, tie a dental floss on it close to the belly and shred it with your fingernails about an inch long. Leave her alone and quiet as much as possible. Just keep a watch for any problems. (If she labors waaay too long, with producing a puppy, then something is wrong and she might need a vet visit for a C section.) Give her some chicken broth or honey during the birthing time when she is resting so she keeps her energy up as it is exhausting to a little mom. Good luck. Lisa Lisa
