A Visitor asked the following question on 7/13/2007
We purchased a 3 month old Yorkie puppy for our twin daughters' ninth birthday. I have never seen her ears stand up...they fall (bend) forward. Is there a chance that they won't stand up? Is this common? I don't know anything about this breed, other than my twins think she is spectacular, and after only one week, she has become a very important part of our family. Thanks.

If you have an electric razor, shave the hair off the ears for a few months til they stand erect. If not use round tipped sharp scissors to cut as much as you can off the ears from base on out to the point. If the ears themselves are too long, they wont stand just from the weight. But Yorkies should have short, small ears and then they will stand. Also at that age (3-4 months,) she could be teething and her ears would not stand during that stressful time..even if they stood before! .
