My Yorkie is in her first heat and she is only 3lbs. up untill now her vulva has been very tiny (the size of a raisen) and in the beginning of her period it was a little bigger but now around her 10th day it has swollen immensely (such as the size of a large grape) is this normal?

This can be very normal. Each dog is as individual as us humans. Sometimes this area can become irritated if the dog cleans itself continuously, just keep an eye.
