How old are your puppies? Your mother dogs hair maybe turning a rusty color due to minerals in her water or as I have had with mine, dyes in their food and preservatives. The only way I have been able to rid mine of this rusty color (which you will see around their eyes, beard/moustache also their feet and stomach or anywhere they lick), is to cook for them. I use to make homemade dog food when I didn't have so many, but now that they are back on commercial dog food, I haven't been able to rid mine of it either. I have tried a couple of products that is suppose to take that color out of their fur but have not had any luck with them working. If anyone knows of a product that works, I would love to know what it is.
As far as your puppies losing their hair, depending on their age, it could be a number of things and I would highly recommend that you take them to your vet for him/her to determine the cause of that. I had one of mine older dogs lose his hair due to an allergic reaction to
