My new shih tzu had hair loss after 8 - 10 wks of age. The breeder stated the puppy stopped eating after being weaned from mother and she had to hand feed. Also stated she gave milk and eggs to the puppy to help it come around as well as kept on a heating pad because it really had a tough time making it. She is also very tiny. At 12 weeks only weighs 1 lb 9 1/2 ozs. My vet is concerned this may be a genetic disorder d/t the front legs have no hair in spots and the hair all over is very thin. However, the puppy had a full coat at 8 weeks then about the time we thought we would be able to bring her home, the breeder stated she had this hair loss. I was amazed at how much hair she had lost when I picked her up. Of course, we have a health guarentee, but we love her anyway as an addition to our family. Just wondered if maybe the canned milk and eggs in her diet could have caused this???
