Is there much difference in male vs female shih tzu? I would love to get a male but others warn me of peeing on everything?

Unless a male is neutered before his testosterone levels become elevated he will definitely have the desire to lift his leg, he WILL mark his territory. However, if you have him neutered around 5 1/2 months - 6 months, you should not have any problems with him marking. He should still be squatting like a puppy to pee and will continue to do that if you get him fixed early enough. However, we never recommend you have one fixed earlier than 5 1/2 months and that is an issue with the anesthesia prior to that age. If you wait later than 6 months you are playing with the testoserone levels that you don't want elevated. Hope this helps. Pam
