A Visitor asked the following question on 3/1/2006
I have recently aquired a 3 year old male and a 6 year old female. what is the acceptable age for breeding? Also just my impression at this point, but I dont think they were socialized enough, they are afraid of everything. What can I do to help this?

Neither one of your dogs are too old to bred so you should be able to bred them. Shiba Inu are shy type dogs and may not have gotten used to you yet, they tend to take to their owners for life and it may take some time to get them trusting you. Also, the previous owners may not have spent enough time with them to socialize them which is very important. I would not give up, just spend a lots of time with them. Myrt
