A Visitor asked the following question on 6/16/2008
The background to my current vet crisis: Last year one of my Scottish Deerhounds, 6 year old female, Katie, became very ill. What started as a kidney infection, became more complicated by her anorexia and seemingly failure to thrive, that led to fatty liver disease. Treatment was various gi meds, around-the-clock IV fluid plus force-feeding of Recovery Royal Canin for over 3 months. She spent a week at Oklahoma State University small animal hospital. Their final diagnosis was, after everything “Inflammatory Bowel Disease". Three weeks after her d/c she is doing well with only a few episodes of vomiting and diarrhea. Cured with a couple of days of prednisone.
CURRENT PUZZLE AND EMOTIONAL HEART BREAKER: Maggie, my other Deerhound, littermate of Katie, became sick similar to Katie, over a month ago. Initial presentation, UTI. Treated the same as Katie with the same decline. Any ideas?
