Hi, I am the proud owner of a white bi-eyed female husky, she is 5 years old, and I found her about 6 months ago, one thing she loves to run, and we are finding it hard to keep her in a fenced in area. We have discovered she loves to dig her way out of any area, but now that the ground is frozen, she also jumped our 6 foot privacy fence lastnight, so I now have her on a 50ft cable in the fenced area, she doesn't like it because she is limited on her freedom, but what else can I do to insure her safety and keep her inside the fence? Also, she will run out the front door if we aren't extremly careful, any advice? I love her very much, and I have had my share of "chasing" her down, which to her is a game, it usually takes me 3-4 hours of pure chasing before I can manage to capture her.

1/19/05 You can try an electric fence with wiring around the top and bottom of your fence, but it may not even work. When she gets loose try ignoring her, or petting another dog if you have access to one...or hop in your car, she may follow. Make sure she's wearing tags at all times too, since despite your best efforts she may elude you. This is a problem many husky owners face, and a trait many offten have to learn to accept. Bree

1/21/05 I have a husky and we got a underground fence and it worked for a while until she figured out how to get out. She would back up and take a running bolt and out she would go. I too have had my fair share of chasing her down. And I do agree that I think that it is a game to her. She has a mind of her own and when you call her she doesn't listen and runs the other way. So we had to resort to tieing her out when we put her outside. We have also tried everything except an actual metal fence. But I guess that is now out of the question due to your circumstances. I wish I could give you more advice. Good Luck. Bethany
2/18/05 IF YOU PUT A PET STOP UNDERGROUND FENCE ABOUT ONE TO TWO FOOT ON THE INSIDE OF YOUR ABOVE GROUND FENCE SHE CAN NOT ONLY NOT DIG HER WAY OUT OT CAN'T GET CLOSE ENOUGH TO JUMP OVER IT. ALSO GIVE HER PLENTY OF STUFF TO DO IN THE YARD THAT SHOULD KEEP HER FROM WANTING TO LEAVE. I HAVE FOUR HUSKIES ON THIS PET STOP UNDERGROUND SYSTEM AND I DON'T HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THEM LEAVING THE YARD. HOPE THIS HELPS!!!!!!!! GIDGET
