A Visitor asked the following question on 4/4/2006
My husky is 1yr2mo and his skin around the snout and below the nose has gradually been turning from white to a pinkish color. I sometimes think that his hair is thinner in those areas but I'm not positive. Has anyone experienced or know what it is or what I should do/not do? thanks

It could simply be the change of seasons. Many Siberians have decreased pigmentation around the nose in the winter. Also, if you are using plastic bowls, it could be a plastic allergy, switch to stainless steel. If the hair is really thinning, could be a zinc problem and you may need to start using zinpro or some such proven zinc product for dogs. Try the bowl change if using plastic, or wait a couple of months for summer to kick in, if it hasn't improved or gets worse consult with your vet.
