A Visitor asked the following question on 4/21/2005
I HAVE A BEAUTIFUL 3 YEAR OLD MALE RR THAT HAS DEVELOPED AN ODOR BETWEEN THE START OF HIS RIDGE AND HEAD, AND AM CONCERNED IF THIS COULD BE ATTRIBUTED TO UNDIAGNOSED DERMOID SINUS. HE SEEMS TO BE IN NO PAIN, BUT THIS ODOR AFTER BATHING COMES BACK. THERE IS NO OPEN AREA THAT IS DRAINING, I CAN'T SEE ANYTHING EITHER, BUT WONDER IF THIS SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY MY VET. PLEASE HELP! GF

12/9/05 You should see your vet asap.... especially if it ia a dermoid and it is draining. That is not a good sign. Yo should be able to feeel if their is a dermoid by stretching the skin and running your finger along the inner edge from front of the dog to the tail. A ds feels like a sting your fingers should skip over the DS if their is one. They are not always easy to detect, but a knowledgeable vet should be able to help you out. If it is a DS, it will need to be removed immediately, so the dog will not be in pain or die. Good Luck Alyson
