In my opinion the crate method the best.
You get a nice size crate,that will be his home.Big enough for water and food.And then when you take him out_take him out to potty,and then have a play and loving and put him back in crate until the next play time.
In about a week he can be out longer and you must watch him if he starts to potty take him outside a praise him,give a treat.And since he went,you can leave him out longer each time.At night he should sleep in crate and as time goes on you will be able to leave the door open.He should have a chew and toy in the crate.
