My Pom is pregnant for the second time. The first time she had only one pup, it came early at 50 days and didn't survive. This pregnancy wasn't planned, so I am concerned for her, she is very large in the belly already at 30 days. I'm concerned she can't go the full term? She is 6 yrs old also. Can anyone give me advise? She's also turning down food, and she's a crummer!! Thanks so much, Sugar's Mommy.

10/20/07 It sounds like you may need to make a trip to the vet to determine how many puppies to expect. You need to start preparing the whelping supplies as well. Since she had complications on her first pregnacy it is probably a good idea to have her spayed as soon as possible. Do you know who is the sire? Hopefully she will go full term and won't require a c-section. Also, what type of food are you feeding her? Pregnant and nursing dogs need premium food with high protien content and low fiber. We use Innove Evo Small Bites (42% protien & No Grains). It is normal for pregnant dogs to have morning sickness, but you must monitor how much she is eating. Our best advice is to schedule a trip to a good vet and talk over the situation with him/her. Cari
