A Visitor asked the following question on 10/9/2007
I have a 6 1/2 month old Pom. I took her to the veterinarian to have her spayed recently and found out she was in season. How long does this last? Some say 2 weeks others 1 month. I'm being very careful with her because I don't want to breed her. She will be spayed as soon as this cycle ends.

Her Estrus cycle or heat cycle can last anywhere from 2 weeks to 6 weeks. Her cycle actually begins before she begins to bleed. Her bleeding may last for one to two weeks or through out the entire cycle. When you notice that your Pom is not swollen or bleeding she may be out of her cycle.
One of our Pomeranian females was recently in her heat cycle for 5 weeks. Read the information & check out the photos on this link for more information http://www.debbiejensen.com/heat_cycle.html
