My 1yr old Pom was pregnant and just gave birth, but since no-one knew about it, we found the puppy when it was too late. I was devastated to find the dead puppy - if only I had know she was pregnant. So in an attempt to be ready for her next pregnancy, how long should she wait before getting pregnant again? How is it possible to keep an eye on her 24/7 for the few days she's likely to give birth?

You should wait a whole year, she should not have been bred until she was two years old anyways. You need to devote mass amounts of time if you plan to be breeding dogs. You need to take the days off of a work as she nears delivery and if you can't then you shouldn't be breeding. She needs to stay supervised or you'll just end up with another dead puppy. You should also look into throughly educating yourself on canine breeding and pregnancy(there are many books on it)while you're waiting to breed her again.
