Newfoundlands were bred as Fisherman's companions to pull in fishing nets, to pull boats to shore, to save drowning victims, and to pull carts to be used as draft animals. They are now bred as children's companions as well. They are soft, sweet ,wonderful companions and all around superb water dogs. They have a natural love and affection for children.
