A Visitor asked the following question on 3/7/2007
I have seen Black and Brown Newfies and I was wondering if they are like Labs and if you could breed them together and get solid Black or Brown Pups as a result?

3/10/07 The color brown and the pattern for Landseer are recessive. You can certainly breed black and brown Newfs together as well as black and Landseers together BUT both parents have to carry the reccessive gene for it to manifest in the puppies. We commong breed brown to black and Landseer to black to maintain type. Marie Campbell Evarista Newfoundlands Marie
