WE HAVE A 5 MONTH OLD MASTIFF FEMALE, AND WE ALSO HAVE A NEUTERED 1 YR OLD MALE BOXER.
THEY PLAY ALOT TOGETHER. WHAT I WANT TO KNOW IS - ARE THERE ANY SPECIAL TRAINING VIDEOS OR SUCH OUT THERE FOR MASTIFFS. I HAVE TO YOUNG GRANDCHILDREN, FOR THE MOST PART SHE IS VERY GOOD WITH THEM BUT HAS GROWLED AROUND ARE YOUNGEST GRANDCHILD WHEN HE FELL BESIDE HER. I AM NOT SURE IF THIS COMES FROM THE TWO DOGS PLAYING TOGETHER OR IF THIS IS GOING TO BE A PROBLEM. NORMALLY SHE WANTS TO LOVE UP THE KIDS.
I HAVE HAD MANY BOXERS HOWEVER THIS IS THE FIRST MASTIFF. PLEASE LET ME KNOW ANY TRAINING TIPS.

More to comment about but here is a start....
I have aquired boxers to keep my mastiffs and bullmastiff active and happy, so you are in line with your breed selection.
First and foremost, have you crate trained your dogs, especially your mastiff???? This is an important boundary issue with large dogs and mastiffs being very protective dogs. Second, you are in/or just past, the discipline time period of where over disciplining can actually do damage. ONLY praise for good behavior. If your mastiff does not have good behavior with your grandchildren, she should be crated Only, and taken away from this situation. Much more is coming in the next few weeks, you really need to seek professional help, or this may continue to be a developing problem with possible problems to come.
