I do not breed until the third heat, giving my female time to develope completely. Mini Schnauzers "usually" go into heat every 6 months, but, to quote a very good breeder friend of mine, "they don't read the books and can come in heat at anytime they choose"! I breed two heats and then skip one. Some breeders choose to breed every other heat, and others, breed every heat. I like to let my females "rest". Hope this helps,

I agree with Rita.The female needs to rest.Anyone who does not let their female rest is not aresponsible breeder
