I have children that have allergies to everything. Is this a good pet to have around them?

Yes, miniature schnauzers are usually a great breed for allergy suffer-ers. I have had several people with serious allergies come and visit my dogs, and not one of them have had a problem. Another miniature schnauzer breeder, whom I know very well, owns 12 schnauzers, and even with that many dogs, she hasn't had anyone come and have a problem. I'd suggest visiting a breeder and bringing your kids with you to see how their allergies react.
