Please help, I have a 7 month old lhasa apso, he seemed to be getting big, quick, but when i took him to the vet and put him on the scale we were shocked when it said 20lbs!!! Is this normal? The vet checked his thyroid and it is normal.

I have known people that have Lhasa Apso puppies that have weighed up to 25lbs by the time they were a year old. How big was the mom and dad? The size could go back to a distant relative too.

Several years ago I had a male lhasa who was nearly 30 pounds at his prime (6 years)...he was completely normal. This probably will disqualify him from showing, or 'finishing', but is fairly common...may have to do with confusion at the turn of the century about what the difference between lhasa apso and lhasa terrier (UKC) was.Since Tibet is part of the One China Policy, we may never know!! Do not underfeed this guy if he is healthy and muscular!!!!!
