my 13 year old llasa apso has lost her hearing for the most part. when we have it flushed by the vet, it comes back somewhat. we try to keep it flushed but that doesn't always help. I know their ear canals are small. could there be other problems? is this common in llasas? is there a better way to keep the wax buildup out? The problems started when we moved to texas where it's very windy.

It is best to go with your vets advice as he/she is there and can look at your lhasa. I have a couple of older lhasas that require plucking and flushing with common K9 ear cleaner at home. You may want to have her groomed more often and ask your groomer for this service.
