well i have only had my lhasa for 3 months i got her when she was 6 months so this is still kind of new to me but anyways now she is 9 months or so and she is in heat is this normal if so what all does she go threw with that and how long does this last... thanks...terri

4/21/06 Her heat won't last but 3 weeks. You might not notice any blood. Some girls keep themselves so clean you can't even notice they're bleeding. After her first heat cycle is the best time to spay. leslie

4/26/06 Actually, medically it is best to spay before first heat (avoid breast cancer, etc), but surgeon would appreciate if you schedule surgery 1-2 mo. after last heat signs (discharge, swelling)...beware: puppy can become pregnant even in late heat if eggs are still 'coming down' the tubes!!!! Leash walk only in the yard and keep her indoors!!!!!A large breed dog can 'force' breed a smaller female. Genie
