8/21/05 Hello, Whelping takes place anytime between 58 to 65 days after mating takes place, which is around 9 to 15 days after the onset of the heat cycle. It tends to very from one dog to the next. However, the time will also stay that for the dog with each breeding. For example: I have one dam that will whelp at 63 days every time. While my oldest will go at 59 days. It can very depending on how many they carry, how big they get, if their are any problems, etc... On average though it will stay very close to the same each time. Glaser's Labradors Karen
