A Visitor asked the following question on 11/9/2009
My puppy is only part JRT, but obviously so. She is crate trained, but I can not house break her. She seems to literally hold it all in for when I let her out. Please give me suggestions.

My suggestion would be to put her on a regular feeding schedule. Immediately after you feed her, take her out to where you want her to "go". If she doesn't go, crate her for a while. Then take her out again until she "goes". Once she has finished, praise her a lot and let her in and "play" with her. Crate her, then take her "out" to "go", praise her when she does, etc. The key is taking her straight from the crate to the outside. Also taking her out immediately after she eats reenforces what you are trying to do. It will take a little time, but she will "get it". If there has been "accidents" in the house, they go back to the "smell".
