A havanese breeder told me I should feed my puppy eggs to help prevent cataracts. Is this good advice?? Thankyou!

There was a study done to see if increasing cholesterol intake would prevent cataracts. Recent views are that the harm from large quantities of eggs outweigh the benefits. There are signalling genes related to cholesterol synthesis that need to be turned on during gestation for proper development. However most feel that past gestation this extra cholesterol is not beneficial. An occasional egg is fine, but I wouldn't recommend making it a regular part of the diet. Terri Bergan Sedosos havanese
