3/27/08 AKC Club standard for color: Approved Breedings Desired Pedigrees 1. BRINDLE 1. FAWN bred to FAWN or BRINDLE only. 1. BRINDLE bred to BRINDLE or FAWN only. Pedigrees of FAWN or BRINDLE Danes should not carry BLACK, HARLEQUIN or BLUE upon them. Regarding "Type": Look for a male that will "compliment" your female...has what she does not i.e., straight back, taller, bigger head, tighter eyes... check your local GD club for body standards. 6/7/09 If you ever have a question about the "Ethics" of breeding Great Danes you should check out the GDCA's website (Great Dane Club of America). There is where you can find the Ethics one should have when breeding Danes as well as the "Color Code". Please remember, the only reason to breed a dog is to BETTER the breed and there are many steps you need to take before breeding to make sure you are doing this. Please make sure that you FULLY health test your Dane's before breeding them at the very least (OFA,CERF, etc.) Good Luck! Rodeo Great Danes http://www.rodeogreatdanes.com Justine
