A Visitor asked the following question on 3/24/2007
My dane Sidney turned 11 on 9/11. He's a sweet boy, but he's really sagging his hind quarters and drags his feet at times. I feel horrible, but my husband and I can't agree on when to put him down. Can anyone offer me some words of comfort or wisdom?

It sounds like some sort of disk disease right? Generally these are not painful. . . the dragging of the feet is actually due to nerve deterioration and there is typically no pain associated with this. . .
It is never easy to decide when the right time is.
Generally I pick markers. . . things I know he or she loves and when they can no longer do that thing it is time. Each person and pet is different. You will know when the time is right. I hope this helps some.
