I want to get a golden retriever puppy, but I really don't want a huge dog, as I am a small lady. Are there different kinds of golden retrievers, that some are really big and then some can be bred small? Maybe 40-60 lbs?

a standard female golden retriever is about 55-60lbs..thats the standard for a show sized golden. I dont get into showing or breeding show goldens, I live in the NW and people love the BIG RED GOLDENS!!! so, im not really sure who could help you. have anymore questions, let me know.

My dogs are all breed standard. I have a female that is right on the low end of breed standard, who has produced girls her size. I have a litter coming towards the end of this year with her.
