My dog is about 6. When I take him to the beach (BAY) he swims out about 25 yards and swims for up to 20 minutes chasing birds. When he comes in he isn't even winded. It scared me so I quit Taking Him. It's his favorite thing. Do Retrievers Drown?

Any dog can drown under the right circumstances. I have some Goldens that can swim for hours - in and out of the water playing. Unless you have some reason to suspect there is a problem I would resume the activity. Apparently he loves it. Try using a tennis ball or some other floating toy and get him to play closer to shore if you are concerned. He will be so thrilled to get back in the water he may indulge you and play closer.
