This is our first time to breed. We have a registered golden retriver and are planning to breed soon. What do we need to know to have a sucsesful litter?

First of all, WHY are you breeding? What does your particular golden have to offer that is not available from an experienced breeder? Have you gotten all clearances on her (hips, elbows, eyes, heart)? Are you familiar with her pedigree and know what faults or heredetary problems to stay clear of? Is the stud dog you are thinking of using compatible with your bitch with health history?
Should something be wrong with the puppies are you willing to fork out the thousands of dollars it could cost without the possibility of getting it back on the sale of the puppies? If you answered no to any of these questions you shouldn't be breeding. JMHO
