Around 2 years old or the 3rd heat would be the best time. It will give her time to fully develop before she carries a litter. When she comes into heat and starts to bleed, count 12 days and on the 12th day, she will be ready for the King for the next 2 or 3 days. Then have her checked approximately 2-1/2 weeks after that to see if she is pregnant. Don't rush things....give her time to grow up a little. Hope this helps.

We have come along way since the old wives tales of counting days and then breeding. I have one girl who's LH surge isn't until day 21 of her cycle and she is ready to breed of course two days after that. So day 23 she gets bred. I would never have a litter if I bred on day 12. Progesterone testing has been around for a long time. The norm is to wait until her third cycle.
