A Visitor asked the following question on 5/31/2005
We have a 12 week old male pup, we recently noticed he has a bump on his belly and it seems to be getting bigger. The Vet was absent when we took him in. The Vet tech told me that it was a hernia and it was genetic and he needed to be neuterd. Is this true or is this just due to how his mother removed his umbilical cord? Thanks for any help.

Hi, It could be genetic or due to mother.YOu can't tell for sure. The breeder should have told you this when you got him. and only sold him as a pet that will be neutered. I would ask the breeder if they have had any other hernas form either parent and let them know he had one. I would recomend neutering the pup and having the hernia fixed. Hope this helps Annette
