if the dog that i am looking at is half bench and half field will the dog still have the desire to hunt

English Springer Spaniel bench / field are not two different dogs. If the Springer' has had training and bred into other lines that had same training .You will probably get some Springer's that will hunt or springer's that have been bred and trained for whatever performance the breeder's breed for .
We can select genes in animals pedigree's to hopefully get what we want with dogs ''by selection'
