7/23/07 Hello - It is important to note that the Dachshund does not come in two different breeds. Generally, a true Cream dog - showing direct import from either the UK or Canada will tend to run a bit larger than 11 pounds. They are slower to mature - should never be bred until at least 2 years of age for girls, and its important to feed them properly - puppy food only for the first 6 months then a good premium food after that. You will find on the internet, a very wide array of poorly bred dogs who resemble the cream color. I would sugest you research your breeder and also the bloodlines very carefully!!! Poorly bred cream lines can carry PRA and other genetic issues. We are show breeders first and foremost - my ideal for any miniature dachshund's weight is right at 10.5 to 11 pounds, as it meets the AKC standard as written... I hope this helps. Feel free to contact us if you have other questions we can help with. Best Regards, Rachelle Rachelle
