I have always heard that you can only breed a double dapple to a solid. What is the rule of thumb?

2/6/07 Rule of thumb is No breeding DAPPLE TO DAPPLE & NO DAPPLE to a DOUBLE DAPPLE Results could be NO EYES,LIMBS,LOSS OF HEARING AND A FEW MORE ONLY BREED A DAPPLE OR DOUBLE DAPPLE TO A SOLID AND CHECK PEDIGREES TO MAKE SURE EITHER ONE HAS no dappling IN THE PEDIGREE If the one you're breeding has a WHITE spot on chest it could mean it is a dapple(who's spots have faded or a Piebald)check pedigrees Billy

3/17/07 Another way to know if there is strong dapple in background is eye color. Blue eyes in a solid color is a sign of a dapple pedigree. Melody
